God of success: When ambition turns into a hidden cult

By: Hani Rizkallah

Introduction: Is success a goal... or has it become a god?

In today's world, success is no longer just a goal, but an invisible force that reshapes your identity and controls your choices.

Money, fame, social status... these have become the primary criteria for what is called a “successful life”.

But the most important question:
When does success go beyond being a means to an end?
What's more... when does he become an invisible “god”?

Chuck's story: The Rise That Hides What's Behind

Chuck is an ambitious young man who has always been known for his drive and constant pursuit of self-actualization.
From a young age, he had a clear dream: To make a big name for himself.

As the internet took off in the 1990s, he entered the business world with a vengeance, and in record time was able to build a successful company.
He made a fortune and became the epitome of modern success.

But behind this quick success, another story was silently taking shape.

When success becomes the center of life

For Chuck, success isn't just an accomplishment, it's the centerpiece of his entire life.

All his decisions, goals, and even his relationships... all revolve around this success.

And therein lies the danger:
Success doesn't become a “god” through rituals, but through complete immersion in it, so that it occupies the first place in the heart without us even realizing it.

Top game: A never-ending struggle

Modern life can be likened to a game of King of the Hill, with everyone trying to get to the top, even at the expense of others.

Paradoxically, the arrival does not bring relief, but rather opens a new door of anxiety:

  • Fear of falling
  • Fear of competition
  • Fear of losing status

Thus, success turns from a dream to a burden... from a goal to a prison.

Rich young man: A question that reveals the truth

In one famous story, a rich young man comes to ask:
“What must I do to inherit eternal life?”

The question sounds spiritual, but in depth it reflects an achievement mindset:
“What can I add to my list of successes?”

But the answer was shocking:
To give up everything he owns and follow the true path.

The young man could not accept the idea... and left sadly, because he was not ready to lose what he had identified himself with.

The illusion of control: Is it all about effort?

Modern success culture is based on a simple principle:
Everything can be achieved with effort.

  • Work More → Achieve More
  • Work Harder → Reach Faster

But this rule doesn't apply to everything.
There are things that are not gained by striving alone... they require surrender and trust.

The hidden price of success

Every success has a cost, but the issue is that this cost is often not clearly visible in the beginning.

Among them:

  • Decreasing time with family
  • Constant stress
  • Loss of inner peace
  • Poor spiritual connection

The real question is not:
Will it work?
Bill:
What do you have to lose on your way to this success?

Success or Blessing: Fundamental difference

There is a profound difference between two concepts that are often confused:

Success:
It is what a person achieves by his own effort and endeavor

Pond:
is what is given to him without full entitlement

The key difference is here:
In success, the human being is at the center of the story
In a blessing, the glory belongs to the source of the gift

Redefining Success

In the popular conception, success means power, ascension, and dominance.
But there is a very different definition:

  • Humility instead of pride
  • Compassion instead of competition
  • Dependence instead of control

Here, success is not measured by what you have... but by who you are on the inside.

The moment of collapse... or the beginning of freedom?

When Chuck suffered a major financial loss due to the market crash, it seemed like it was all over.

But what happened was the opposite of what was expected.

He didn't feel broken... he felt liberated.

Because he realized that the thing he had so desperately possessed... he actually possessed it from the inside.

The truth we don't like to hear

Many people break down when they lose their success, because they have attached their identity to it.

But sometimes, survival doesn't come from achieving success...
It's about freedom from it.

The most important question: Who leads your life?

In the end, the issue is not success itself, but its place in your life.

Is it just a tool?
Or has it become the primary reference for your identity and value?

Two paths ahead

Life presents every human being with two choices:

The traditional path to success:
Achievement, Competition, Rise...
but may end up with an internal void

The path of true meaning:
Equilibrium, Delivery, Peace
and leads to a more profound life

Conclusion

Success itself is not an issue, it can be a positive and desirable thing.

But the danger begins when it becomes a goal...
into something to live for.

“Not everyone who made it to the top...
And sometimes, what we think is an achievement... is the real limitation.”
